Who staffs the camp?
Art studio owner and local mom Jessica, and her daughter, secondary school teacher Allison, will be leading the kids through activities and art projects each week of camp.
What is the camper to staff ratio?
Both Jessica and Allison will be present leading a group of 4 to 8 children, as recommended by the Illinois Public Department of Health (IPDH).
Will the studio be open to the public during camp sessions?
No. The studio will be closed to the public during both morning and afternoon sessions. While the back door will be open to promote air flow, the front door will be closed and locked to prevent non-campers from entering the space.
Will campers be required to wear face coverings or masks? Will campers be required to social distance?
Campers will be required to wear face-coverings when appropriate as defined by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and will follow all social distancing guidelines. Based on current information (CDC and IPDH) campers will not be required to wear masks outdoors. However, for the increased safety of campers and staff alike, children will be required to wear masks indoors.
What are the camp classes like?
Each camp session has projects that are related to the weekly theme. Campers will work with a variety of materials including canvas, paper, mosaic, glass, pottery, fused glass, wood board, and clay.
What should my child wear to camp?

Please send your child dressed for mess! We will be painting with acrylics (which unfortunately may not come out of clothing) and using other messy art mediums. Never fear – Campers will have their own apron that only they wear throughout the week, however sometimes pants, shorts, and shoes get messy too. If possible and to avoid paint getting on jackets, we highly recommend leaving jackets with parents.

What should my child bring to camp every day?
Each day of camp is jam packed with creative activities so campers should bring a nutritious nut-free snack and their own filled water bottle.  Please label your child’s snack and water bottle. Campers will need to bring their own masks and sunscreen.
What should my child NOT bring to camp?
Please do not allow your child to bring any toys, trading cards, dolls, stuffed animals, or personal electronic devices to camp. If any of these items accompany your child to camp, they will be set aside and sent home at the end of the camp day. Backpacks or bags are not allowed. We are not responsible for anything lost, damaged, or misplaced.
Do you take field trips? Do you go outside?
We do not take field trips but will complete as many projects in our outdoor backyard, weather and project permitting. During our time outside, children will be closely supervised and will comply with 6 feet social distancing.
Do the children wear sunscreen if they go outside?
We believe in sun protection at our camp however due to COVID-19, we ask that you apply sunscreen to your child before attending camp each day. If additional application is needed during the four hour session, each camper will be responsible for application of their own sunscreen prior to going outside.
Is there a camp orientation?
Yes! We will hold a zoom meeting for all parents the Sunday evening before your child's week at camp. Please contact Jessica with additional questions or details beforehand if desired (312-848-4364). We will email out the Zoom details as each session approaches.
What kind of medical and emergency information do you need for my child?
Once you register your child for camp we will send you a Camper Information Form. You will need to fill out this form and send it back to us immediately. No one will be allowed to attend camp without this signed and completed form.
Can my camper take medicine while at camp?
If possible, all medication should be taken at home prior to or after camp. If your child needs to receive (or potentially receive) medicine while at camp, you will note this on your Camper Information Form and provide a signed approval note from your child's physician. Our camp cannot administer any medications without this form. No medication (including inhalers or sting kits) will be dispensed without this form. Medications will be collected on the first day of camp. Medications should be brought to the program in the original packaging and state the dosage, doctor, phone and times per day the medication should be taken. Only campers can take or apply their medications; staff will not administer any medication.
Do you administer First Aid? How do you handle emergency medical situations?
Allison is CPR and First Aid Certified and any additional minor bruises, bumps, bug bites, and wounds will be taken care of at camp. If anything more serious arises, we will contact you immediately. If emergency care is required, we will call an ambulance, which will go to the closest medical facility.
What do you do to accommodate children with allergies, intolerances, or special medical conditions?
Parents of campers with serious allergies or serious medical conditions will develop an Allergy Action Plan or Medical Action Plan with Jessica and Allison before camp begins.
Do you allow nuts at your camp?
While our camp is nut-free, our studio may not be. Please make sure your child's snacks are free of all peanuts, tree nuts, and nut products. While we are committed to monitoring foods and responsibly limiting potential food allergens, Creativita can, in no way, guarantee a 100% nut-free or allergen-free environment, and therefore cannot be labeled as an allergen-free or nut-free school or camp. We ask that all camp parents discuss allergies with their camper beforehand, and explain to their child the importance of washing hands before AND after eating and respecting the needs of campers with severe and/or life-threatening allergies. We will work with all campers to reinforce the importance of hand washing and respecting the needs of campers with severe and/or life-threatening allergies.
May I send treats with my camper to share with the other children?
We're sorry, but treats, including birthday treats, are not allowed at camp.
Does your camp offer an extended hours program?
This summer camp does not offer an extended hours program.
How should I prepare my child for camp at the studio?
Before arriving please talk to your child about social distancing and what to expect. If a camper or family member is sick, please stay home.
What are your drop-off and pick-up procedures?

Please arrive with your camper on time each day. The morning drop off window is from 7:45am – 8:00am and the afternoon drop off window is from 12:45 – 1:00pm. The pick-up time window for the morning session is from 11:45 – 12pm and 4:45pm –5pm for the afternoon session. For safety reasons and to limit any possible spread of germs, we will not allow guardians into the studio during drop off or pickup times. No exceptions. One of the camp facilitators will meet with you outside of the studio to sign your camper in and out each day.

During daily check-in, we will ask each guardian to complete a brief oral questionnaire so that we can ensure the health and safety of each camper and members of staff. Jessica or Allison will take campers temperature with a thermal touch-free thermometer. Temperature must be less than 100.4°F in order to enter camp, as encouraged by the IDPH. Please allow a few extra minutes for drop off and pick up times as we safely transition all campers in and out of the studio.

What safety protocols do you have in place to keep campers safe during this time of COVID-19?
Upon arrival, each camper will be asked to wash his/her/their hands, and will do so, one at a time every hour during the session. Both Jessica and Allison will also wash hands every hour. Additional key times to wash hands will be:
  • After blowing one’s nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • After using the restroom.
  • Before eating snacks.
We will have alcohol-based (at least 60% alcohol) hand sanitizer available to all campers and staff throughout each session. Each camper will have their own individual table to work at with the exception of campers that are from the same household who will share a table. Each table is 6 feet apart ensuring safe distance while working on projects. Campers will have their own set of tools; there will be no sharing of tools or materials. At the end of each daily session, campers will put all belongings in their personal crate, leaving it at their workspace. After the session has ended, Jessica or Allison will move the campers crate to a private, employee only work area. Throughout each session, Jessica and Allison will maintain an attendance log of participants.
What cleaning protocols do you have in place to keep campers safe during this time of COVID-19?
Everyday before both morning and afternoon sessions, all surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected while wearing disposable gloves. Allison and Jessica will also wash their hands after gloves are removed. Frequently touched surfaces include, but are not limited to, all door handles, light switch covers, chairs, tablecloths, the bathroom faucet, sink, and toilet. The disinfectant we will continue to use is a spray bottle filled with a 1/3 cup of bleach mixed with 1 gallon of water, saturating the surface to ensure a clean contact time of at least one minute before drying the surface with a clean piece of paper towel. Daily cleaning and disinfecting of the premise is conducted in compliance with CDC protocols. A fan will be placed at the back door to maximize air change and flow.
If a camper becomes ill or develops COVID-19 symptoms while at camp, what are the procedures?

If your child falls ill or exhibits Covid-like symptoms during the camp day, one of our facilitators will self-isolate with him/her/them in a designated area separate from others. We will call the guardian for immediate pick-up. While we cannot offer make up sessions for any missed camp days, we will gladly send home any projects that can be completed at home. We will not offer camp credit or refunds for any missed or shortened camp days.

What if my child has a doctor appointment or another activity? Can I pick up my child early from camp?
If you need to pick up your child before the end of the camp session, you are welcome to do so. Please notify Jessica or Allison of any absences (or special pick-ups) as early as possible so we can plan accordingly.
When can I pick up my child's artwork?
On the Saturday and Sunday following each camp session, we will have an art display in our front window for all to see. The display will be taken down and all artwork will be available for pickup the following Monday evening. Pickup hours are Monday through Friday from 6pm – 8pm or by appointment. Our policy is to store artwork for up to 2 weeks after completion. Please pickup any artwork within this time frame.
